The way I see it, every life is a pile of good things and bad things. The good things don’t always soften the bad things, but vice versa, the bad things don’t always spoil the good things and make them unimportant.

Tips for when you’re feeling tired/can’t focus

liveandstudy:

  1. Be honest with yourself. Are you really tired, or just feeling lazy? Confronting your laziness, if laziness is the case at hand, can really help to make you do your work.
  2. If you’ve been productive, take a break! You should have 15mins of break for every 1hr or productive work. I like to mix up my schedule a little by starting off with 1hr of work, then 15 mins of break, then 2hrs or work and 30 mins of break, then back to the 1hr set.
  3. Actually, even if you’ve been procrastinating, and can’t focus, take a break too. Take 5 mins off to clear your desk, unclutter your mind, jog up and down the hallway, then sit back down and get to work. ALSO CLOSE TUMBLR/TWITTER/ELLO/INSTAGRAM/ETC. and put a website/app blocker on social media sites/apps.
  4. If you’re tired, and have had minimal sleep the past couple of days, and it’s late (past 10/11), it’s probably time to go to sleep. You need the rest (yes, you do, don’t lie to yourself) to be productive tomorrow, to pay attention in class, to enjoy life outside of class. Don’t pull all-nighters.
  5. Drink iced water. It’ll keep you hydrated, and alert.
  6. Light a scented candle, or set out some scents. I’ve found that Apple tends to perk me up! Stay away from soothing scents like Jasmine and Whit Frangipani - they’ll make you sleepy.
  7. Doodle a little, or write in a journal. You really can’t expect yourself to power through your day doing nothing but studying/working. Let yourself relax a little. It’ll ease some of your frustration and will probably help you focus a little better
  8. Talk to someone! Especially someone you can share laughs with. It’ll perk you right up. Just don’t get carried away if you have many things to do.
  9. Reward yourself. Maybe you’re feeling the ‘this is really pointless’ sentiment which we all feel once in a while. When you’re done with tasks and have a break, do something to have a little fun, or just go eat that ice-cream in the freezer.
